Mumbai is known as India’s financial capital. As Asia rises, so does Mumbai. As modern as the city is, it is also very old. A short ferry from the Gate of India will take you millennia back in time at the Elephanta Cave Temples. But under the massive growth, massive poverty still remains. This has led to the creation of “New Mumbai” connected by a fancy new bridge, allowing Mumbai’s elite to bypass the less favorable sections of the city.
Like New York City, Mumbai has more to experience than to see. There is plenty of good food, shopping, and winding shaded streets to cool down on. A new subway system and covered walks intend to clean up Mumbai’s dirty image. Plenty of new avenues are being built and urban renewal is in full swing.
